Geocaching in Tucson : swapping treasures

I swapped a blue bead for an owl button at GC4QGTH. The items you can swap in and out of caches are called swag.  They are just little things, not trackable or anything like that.  You drop one in and take one out.

Nearby is a favorite movie theater because they have discount movies on Tuesdays.  Also this tree is behind Guadalajara where I love their hot melty minichimis. Sighs. I recommend doing all of it — picking up the find, watching a movie, then eating the minichimis.

And if you’re new to geocaching, it’s good manners to swap out swag with an item of similar value/cuteness/awesomeness. You don’t get to keep anything. The swag travels as you move it onto the next place.  It’s just a little something to bring a smile to someone’s face so a lot of them are cute, funny or nostalgic in some way.  A cute button, a little toy, a cool stone — it can be anything.  Some people make their own swag, some people buy geocaching swag, and some people find little doodads at home, garage sales or the local thrift store.  Swag, in general, is cheap but fun.
