Geocaching in Tucson : My first find
My very first geocaching find earlier this year. One of the cool things about geocaching is that people do themes. So tammy_b @ttcm4geo usually does caches near a vintage neon sign. Her second choice is near artwork or some other defining landmark. She’s the one who introduced me to geocaching.
GC6QZ1Y introduced me to a metal sculpture by Steven Derks @sgderks. On his website, Derks says, “Most of my sculptures are conceived right there in the scrap metal yards where I find both the vision and the ingredients for my work.”
Beyond Bread had people coming in and out while we were here. I wonder what they thought as I was rooting around the sculpture. Good thing I had my camera so they would think I was just a fanatic photographer. Oh wait! I so am. Laughing.

You can use the Amazon search bar to do any search at Amazon like I did today with “found art”. I set the category to “apparel” expecting to see coyote t-shirts but surprisingly there is tactical clothing in desert colors — khaki and military green. On another day, the results may be different. Search engines intrigue me.
I am the designer/creator of the t-shirt Amazon pays me a royalty if you buy the shirt. Yay! I am also an Amazon affiliate on the US site. This has no effect on your price. Amazon disclosure: “We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.” I am an affiliate on other sites as well.
I remember this geocache we did together! A nice memory. That is what geocaching really is, creating adventurous memories together.
It was a lot of fun. From art to washes, micros to huge caches, from lamp posts to bumble bees, I think we hit about every kind there was.
WOW, that really is cool!
I thought the sculpture was cool too!
